Hoops Capital, the governing body for the Sydney Kings and Flames, has proudly announced the continuation of its partnership with TAFE NSW for an impressive fourth consecutive season.
This collaboration focuses on enhancing the recovery protocols of the teams while simultaneously offering aspiring massage therapists practical training experiences.
Commenting on the extension of the partnership, Head of Medical at Hoops Capital, David Hillard, said: “Integrating TAFE NSW students into our post-training massage routines has significantly bolstered our recovery strategies for Kings and Flames athletes.”
Underscoring the importance of the long-standing collaboration, Massage Therapy Instructor at the TAFE NSW, Donna West, added:”Being able to observe and engage with professionals from the Sydney Kings and Flames enhances our students’ skills and confidence, enriching their in-class learning experience.”
For students aspiring to excel in sports and remedial therapy, gaining experience in such a demanding environment allows them to refine their techniques in a context requiring precision and professionalism.
Reflecting on their journey, recent graduate from the Diploma of Remedial Massage program, Akki, expressed: “Receiving real-time feedback from elite athletes has been both challenging and rewarding. It has improved my technique and deepened my understanding of the role massage plays in recovery and performance.”
As part of this initiative, students enrolled in the Diploma of Remedial Massage at TAFE NSW Macquarie Fields engage in weekly visits to Kings and Flames training sessions throughout the term. During these visits, they provide crucial post-training massages, contributing to their course’s practical obligation of 200 hours.
This hands-on experience enables them to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world clinical environment while directly supporting the recovery and performance of professional athletes.
This partnership continues to create significant advantages for both the athletes and the students, facilitating player recovery while providing insightful exposure to the fast-paced world of elite sports.
