Hockey New Zealand Secures PURE Sports Nutrition as High-Performance Partner

Hockey New Zealand has announced a partnership with PURE Sports Nutrition, naming the New Zealand-owned company the Official Energy Gel and Protein Supplier for the Vantage Black Sticks.

The collaboration arrives at a moment for the national teams as they enter a high-intensity 2026 international calendar on home soil, in preparations for the FIH Hockey World Cup.

As part of the agreement, PURE Sports Nutrition will provide the Men’s and Women’s national programmes with a range of batch-tested, locally sourced supplements. The partnership is designed to optimise recovery and hydration across a demanding schedule that includes the “Summer of Hockey” series.

The Vantage Black Sticks Women are currently hosting a four-team international series in Dunedin (21–25 January), while the Men’s squad will headline a four-test series against Japan in Hamilton starting 30 January.

Commenting on the partnership, Hockey New Zealand, announced: “We’re excited to welcome PURE Sports Nutrition to the team.”

“They will keep the team fuelled through every training block, tour, and test match, helping them stay sharp when it counts,” the team said.

The integration of PURE’s high-performance range follows the brand’s successful expansion across other major New Zealand sporting organisations, including the Wellington Phoenix and Hurricanes.

The reason behind the deal centers on the physical demands of modern international hockey. With the Men’s side currently ranked in the world’s top 10 following a gold medal at the FIH Nations Cup, the organisation is prioritising premium nutrition to maintain elite physical benchmarks.

Under Men’s Head Coach Greg Nicol and Women’s Head Coach Verity Sharland, the squads are using the upcoming domestic matches to test depth and sharpen tactical play before heading to major European campaigns later this year.

The partnership also extends to the Future Black Sticks (U21) program, providing a consistent nutritional blueprint for the next generation of New Zealand hockey talent.
