Hahn Australia Cup Final Set for Lakeside Stadium with AFC Qualification on the Line

Football Australia has confirmed that Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium will host the 2025 Hahn Australia Cup Final on 4 October, with Heidelberg United FC set to face Newcastle Jets FC.

The fixture carries both domestic and international significance, with the winner not only securing the Cup but also earning the right to compete in the 2026–27 AFC Champions League Two, pending licensing approval.

The competition began with 718 clubs across Australia, underlining the Cup’s position as one of the most accessible national football tournaments. Heidelberg United’s progression is particularly noteworthy: the Football Victoria side has eliminated three A-League opponents, without admiting a goal. Their run sets a new record for consecutive “Cupsets” in a single campaign, and presents the possibility of a Member Federation club lifting the trophy for the first time.

For Newcastle Jets, the final represents both a commercial and symbolic opportunity. Under recently appointed head coach Mark Milligan, the club has advanced past Adelaide United, Macarthur FC, and Avondale FC to reach its first Australia Cup Final.

Commercial Standpoint

The Cup continues to offer value to stakeholders. Broadcast partner Paramount Australia will carry the match live on Network 10 and Paramount+, giving both competing clubs national exposure at a time when the A-League faces ongoing challenges with fan engagement and broadcast ratings.

Naming rights partner Hahn, alongside Superloop, Mitre, and Qantas, will benefit from the visibility of a nationally televised final that blends grassroots stories with professional competition.

Ticket pricing has been structured to encourage broad attendance, starting at AUD 9 for juniors and AUD 18 for adults, with family passes available for AUD 48. The strategy reflects Football Australia’s efforts to position the Cup as an accessible event that connects community football with the professional game.
