Australian golf legend, Greg Norman, has been appointed to the organising committee for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, bringing significant commercial and international expertise to the board. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese selected Norman to join the 24-member committee, which includes Olympic gold medallists Jessica Fox and Natalie Cook, as well as Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates.
Norman’s extensive experience in sports management and business development is expected to enhance the commercial prospects of the Brisbane Games. His role in establishing the LIV Golf League in 2021 and his leadership of a diverse business portfolio—including ventures in apparel, golf course design, real estate, and wine production—demonstrate his capacity to attract global partnerships and investment.
Norman expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the success of the Brisbane Games, stating, “As a proud Queenslander, it is an honour and privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games. We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport, and hospitality at Brisbane 2032, and create an incredible legacy for this state.”
Federal Sports Minister Anika Wells endorsed Norman’s appointment, highlighting his global sporting experience and business acumen as valuable assets for the Games’ planning and execution.
Norman’s involvement is anticipated to bolster the Brisbane 2032 Games’ international profile, potentially leading to increased sponsorship opportunities and economic benefits for the region. His appointment underscores the organising committee’s commitment to leveraging high-calibre expertise to ensure the event’s success.
