Great Britain’s SailGP Team has announced a three-year sponsorship deal with Emirates, naming the airline as the team’s first-ever title sponsor.

Emirates will additionally hold marketing, digital, and social media rights with the team, helping to deliver exclusive opportunities such as the “sixth sailor experience” for Emirates customers to experience the action first-hand on the water.

In line with the United Arab Emirates declaring 2023 as the ‘Year of Sustainability’, the partnership will see Emirates and Great Britain SailGP drive joint global environmental campaigns.

Commenting on the partnership, Great Britain SailGP Team CEO, Ben Ainslie, said: “This is a pinnacle partnership, one that brings both commercial value as well as supports our sustainability ambitions to support three million young people to take climate action.”

Emirates Airline president, Tim Clark, added: “Emirates and the Great Britain SailGP Team share common values, ambitions, and drive – making this partnership a natural fit.”

“Together, we’ll take the sport to new levels, bring fans closer to the action, and deliver world-class experiences to customers worldwide.

“We also look forward to working closely with our partners on joint sustainability initiatives that will truly make an impact – on and off the water,” he said.

The deal will also see Emirates’ signature ‘Fly Better’ logo featured on the Great Britain F50 sailboat, and the airline’s iconic logo also appearing on the team’s sailing apparel and equipment.

The title sponsorship debuts with the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix on Sydney Harbour this week.

This announcement comes after SailGP extended their partnership with Rolex for the next ten seasons.
