Cricket Australia and Gravity Media have teamed up to broadcast the Sheffield Shield Final, integrating Gravity’s innovative remote live stream technology to produce state-of-the-art coverage.
The expanding broadcast and technology partnership is part of Cricket Australia’s plan to deliver 350 hours of extensive coverage across FOX Sports, Kayo, and the Cricket Network.
The proprietary Gravity Media Australia ‘CELBO’ broadcast production solution will allow for the remote production of cricket broadcasting, through cellular and cloud-based technology that delivers individual camera and audio feed coverage to its’ production centres in Sydney and Melbourne.
The technology allows Cricket Australia and Gravity Media Australia to reduce the production footprint at events and to streamline production and technology workflows, whilst enabling the creation and direction of complete broadcast production.
Additionally, Gravity Media Australia’s production undertaking for the Sheffield Shield Final will include high-definition outside broadcast and production trucks, and 12 cameras to capture every moment of the match.
Commenting on the partnership, Cricket Australia broadcast content manager, Dan Allan, said: “Their newly-developed remote production solution was the perfect fit for a summer that saw us take matches to all corners of the country and reach more fans than ever before.”
“Gravity Media’s services are consistently at the cutting edge of broadcast technology and have helped further cement Cricket’s position as Australia’s favourite sport,” he said.
Gravity Media Australia business development manager, Nigel Naseby, added: “We value our partnership with Cricket Australia and are committed to continue to evolve our coverage with the introduction of new broadcast and production technologies for Cricket Australia and its broadcast partners.”
“Our proprietary CELBO production solution is a significant step forward for Gravity Media Australia in delivering a complete broadcast outcome for Cricket Australia across many of its events,” he said.
The Sheffield Shield final broadcast builds on Gravity Media Australia’s wealth of production partnerships across major sports in Australia, including the Melbourne Cup and all major horse racing events, the Australian Open and the Summer of Tennis, the PGA Tour, Supercars Championships, FINA World Swimming Champions, World Athletics, and the broadcast technology provision for the AFLW.
