FIBA, the international governing body for basketball, has extended its enduring collaboration with Genius Sports, the global sports data technology company, until 2035.
In this renewed partnership, Genius Sports has been appointed as FIBA’s official partner for data and video capture and production. Additionally, the company will serve as the official innovation and technology services partner for the federation from 2025 for a decade.
As part of the expanded agreement, Genius Sports will deploy AI-powered technology to automate official data collection, live video production and optical player tracking for basketball leagues and national federations worldwide.
The cutting-edge technology is designed to offer users access to coaching tools, analytics, automated officiating and broadcast augmentation tools. It is anticipated to revolutionise the entire data and video ecosystem of international basketball, providing a unified solution to automate and synchronise live game statistics and video production with advanced player tracking.
