In an announcement from KNVB, Frank Paauw was elected as a member of the UEFA Executive Committee (EXCO) during the 49th UEFA Congress held in Belgrade, receiving considerable support from his colleagues.

Paauw’s election marks a significant milestone for Dutch football, as he joins the ranks of esteemed predecessors including Just Spee, Michael van Praag, Jeu Sprengers, Lo Brunt, Jos Coler, and Jo van Marle, making him the seventh representative from the Netherlands in this pivotal governing body.

Commenting on being electing, Paauw, said: “It is an honour to be chosen by my European colleagues for this role in the UEFA Board with this mandate. I am aware of the importance for the Netherlands, and I am grateful to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors.”

“We see it as our responsibility to make football future-proof and keep it attractive to new generations.

The UEFA Executive Committee holds a critical position within the organisation, steering its strategic direction and shaping policies that affect European football, which includes making essential decisions regarding regulations, league structures, funding, amateur football, and the overall development of the sport across the continent.

Paauw’s appointment is a strong indication of the KNVB’s ongoing efforts to establish and maintain the Netherlands’ prominence in the international football arena, positioning the country as a key player in the future landscape of European football.
