FOX SPORTS becomes SailGP’s Official Broadcast Partner in Australia

Pay-television broadcaster FOX SPORTS has signed a three-year agreement as SailGP’s Official Broadcast Partner in Australia.

FOX SPORTS will broadcast each of the global races live on the network, starting with the Sydney event in 2019.

SailGP is a new sailing competition featuring teams from six countries – Australia, China, France, Great Britain, Japan and the United States.

Running from February to September, starting in Sydney followed by regattas in San Francisco, New York, Cowes and Marseille, each five-person crew will race on identical 50-foot foiling catamarans and will compete for a $1m prize in an event sanctioned by World Sailing.

The Fox deal is the first media-rights agreement SailGP has struck.

SailGP has reserved a separate package of rights in the country including live coverage of the Sydney event and highlights of the others for a free-to-air broadcaster.
