Forbes has released their annual ranking of the 100 highest-paid athletes, with Floyd Mayweather retaining top spot for the fourth time in seven years.

BOXER Floyd Mayweather banked $275 million dollars from his boxing fight against mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor in August 2017.

Lionel Messi ($146 million), Christiano Ronaldo ($142 million) and Neymar ($118 million) round out the top ten for soccer players.

Mayweather, Ronaldo and Tiger Woods are the only three athletes to top the best-paid list over the past 18 years. Woods ranks 16th this year with $43.3 million.

The top 100 earned $877 million from endorsements, memorabilia and appearance fees, down 1% from last year.

Swiss ace Federer remains the most attractive athlete for sponsors, with endorsement deals accounting for $85 million of his earnings.
