Football Australia has concluded its twenty-second Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Friday, 23 May 2025. The AGM coincided with the release of Football Australia’s 2024 Annual Report, which detailed key operational, financial, and strategic activities for the 12 months ending 31 December 2024.

An election for a board director position saw Mr. Anter Isaac, nominated by Football West and seconded by Melbourne Victory, re-elected for a term extending to the 2028 AGM. Immediately following the AGM, the board unanimously re-elected Mr. Isaac as Chairman.

In his address, Isaac outlined Football Australia’s strategic focus, highlighting key priorities such as finalising the Matildas’ new head coach, supporting the Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup 2026™ qualification, delivering the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™, and launching the new national second-tier competition, the Australian Championship, set for 2025.

Isaac acknowledged the appointment of Heather Garriock as Interim CEO, marking the first time a woman has led the organisation. He emphasised her deep football expertise, executive leadership, and commitment to uniting Australia’s football community.

The 2024 Annual Report revealed Football Australia generated $124 million in revenue—up 9% year-on-year—but reported an $8.5 million net accounting deficit due to deliberate reinvestment into national teams, commercial infrastructure, and grassroots programs. Despite the deficit, the organisation reported strong cash reserves and positive net equity.

Strategic highlights from 2024 included:

  • Record-breaking national participation of over 1.9 million, with women and girls’ participation growing 16%.
  • Expanded commercial partnerships, including major new deals with Nike, Coles (MiniRoos), Allianz, Hahn, and MILO®.
  • A new broadcast agreement with Paramount ANZ, securing rights through key upcoming international tournaments.
  • Progress on PlayFootball v2.0, a revamped national registration system.
  • Strong performance and international presence from the Socceroos, Matildas, and youth teams, including the successful launch of Australia’s first women’s national futsal team.

Isaac closed by thanking outgoing Deputy Chair Jaclyn Lee-Joe for her service, reaffirming the board’s commitment to sustainable, values-driven growth across Australia’s football ecosystem.

The current Football Australia Board comprises:

  • Anter Isaac (Chair)
  • Joseph Carrozzi AM
  • Christine Holman
  • Sam Ciccarello
  • Catriona Noble
  • Spiro Pappas
