FIFA World Cup Hits 2.45 Million Ticket Sales

International football governing body, FIFA, has announced the total ticket sales for the 2022 FIFA World Cup have reached 2.45 million.

The latest sales period, which ran from 5 July to 16 August, sold a total of 520,532 tickets on a first come first served basis.

During the period, the most allocated tickets were sold for group-stage matches including Cameroon v. Brazil, Brazil v. Serbia, Portugal v. Uruguay, Costa Rica v. Germany, and Australia v. Denmark.

Additionally, countries with the most bought tickets and longest digital queues included Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Mexico, the UAE, England, Argentina, Brazil, Wales and Australia.

FIFA has also advised all ticket holders to start planning their accommodation for the tournament, with all fans living outside of Qatar requiring a match ticket and approved Hayya (Fan tournament ID) application to enter the stadiums.

For those who haven’t acquired a ticket, FIFA also announced the last-minute ticket sales round will begin in late September and will run until the end of the tournament, which like the last round, will run on a first come first served basis.

The news comes after FIFA announced the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Tickets are now available for the fourth annual Women In Sport Summit, which will provide real stories, skills and career moves, from administrators to athletes, and will give a platform for honest conversations and exclusive networking opportunities, with game-changing discussions about the growth, value, and the future of women in sport.
