FIFA Launches German Rights Tender for Women’s World Cup Rights Tender

FIFA has announced the launch of an invitation to tender in Germany for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will run in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August.

FIFA will use the process to select media companies that are best placed to achieve their overall objectives to deliver high-quality and comprehensive coverage of the tournament, and financial investment to help support and further accelerate the growth and development of women’s football.

The rights tender follows an extremely successful 2019 edition in France, where a record audience of 1.1 billion people and broke several domestic broadcast records.

Women’s football has also attracted large numbers in recent years, with 17.9 million people in Germany tuning in to watch the Women’s Euros Final, where a there was also a record attendance at Wembley Stadium.

Finally, FIFA will allow submissions until 14 February, with the funds from the rights sale being reinvested into women’s football through FIFA Forward and the FIFA Women’s Development Programme.
