Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) has appointed former Sunshine Coast Lightning CEO Danielle Smith as their new CEO.
With a career spanning over 25 years across diverse industries such as sport, major events, management consulting, chartered accounting, and consumer products, Danielle brings a wealth of experience and a shared passion for exercise and sports science.
Danielle’s appointment signifies a pivotal moment for ESSA as it looks to leverage her strategic capabilities and operational effectiveness to drive the organisation forward, eager to promote exercise and sports science to improve health and performance amongst Australians.
As Australia prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic and Olympic Games, Danielle envisions a critical role for ESSA in advocating for the integration of health, sport, and physical activity. With her extensive background and accolades, including being the recipient of QSports’ 2021 Sports Administrator of the Year award, Danielle is well-equipped to lead ESSA into its next phase of growth and impact. Her official commencement as ESSA CEO is scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024.
