urope’s “final four” Basketball tournament will offer fans a virtual reality (VR) experience after announcing fixtures are to be held behind closed doors.

The tournament, concluding the Euroleague Basketball season, is offering 14 210 VR passes, the same number as the amount of tickets that would have been available should fans, should there have been fans able to attend the event.

According to SportsPro Media, “final four” VR pass holders will be able to switch between 12 different live feeds including “four 180-degree cameras on the backboards and others placed around courtside seats.”

Developed in partnership with Yerba Buena VR Inc., the passes are being sold at €15 (AUD$27) with a 50% discount for those who purchased tickets to the cancelled “final four” in 2020.

In a statement, Euroleague Basketball marketing and communications senior director, Alex Ferrer Kristjansson, said they had been working to get fans engaged again after the tournament’s cancellation last year.

“Since the cancellation of last season’s “final four” we have been working hard to bring our fans the best possible experience during their absence from the arenas due to the pandemic,” Kristjansson said.

“The VR Pass will allow our fans to live the “final four” almost like a player,” he said.
