Essendon Signs Historic Five-Year Deal With Under Amour

Essendon has become the first AFL club to secure a partnership with global footwear and apparel manufacturer, Under Amour.

The historic five-year partnership will see Under Armour become the Dons’ new apparel partner, supplying the team’s playing and performance apparel, footwear and compression, as well as the club’s retail apparel range.

Essendon chief executive officer, Xavier Campbell, said it was a significant signing for the club.

“This is an exciting and substantial partnership for the Essendon Football Club, and we are delighted to be welcoming a global company in Under Armour to the red and black family,” Campbell said.

“This deal unites two high-performing, ambitious brands who will challenge the Australian sports market and always aspire to be the best.

“We have worked closely with Under Armour with performance solutions anchored on innovation and design, whilst staying true to the history of the club and our iconic sash, a design that our supporters have cherished for over 148 years.

“Under Armour partners with some of the biggest sporting identities and brands worldwide and we are delighted it saw fit to partner with our club.

Under Armour founder and chief executive officer, Kevin Plank, was at The Hangar today to formally announce the partnership.

“This partnership is a big moment for Under Armour.

“With such a strong history in American Football, we’re excited to bring our performance solutions to life in Australia’s most iconic sport – Australian Football,” Plank said.

“Essendon’s history and proud winning tradition are unparalleled, and I can’t think of a better partner for Under Armour.”

Essendon’s official Under Armour guernsey will be released for sale in early November and will be available for purchase at The Bomber Shop.
