ESPN Bet launches as exclusive betting operator for Wells Fargo Championship

ESPN Bet, the newly introduced online betting service by the market-leading US sports broadcaster, has secured the exclusive official betting operator status for the Wells Fargo Championship event on the PGA Tour.

ESPN Bet, operated by US entertainment and gambling company PENN Entertainment through a joint venture with ESPN, has entered into a long-term, multi-faceted partnership with the Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina, organisers of the prestigious Wells Fargo Championship.

As part of this collaboration, ESPN Bet gains access to a range of marketing integrations, allowing the platform to actively engage golf fans both online and on-site during the tournament. The deal was set ahead of the anticipated launch of regulated online sports wagering in North Carolina. Pending regulatory approvals, PENN secures market access for ESPN Bet in the state under the agreement with Quail Hollow Club.

The Wells Fargo Championship event for the year 2024 is scheduled to unfold from May 6-12. Wyndham Clark took out the event in 2023, his first PGA Tour victory before going on to claim his maiden major at the US Open.

ESPN Bet aims to leverage this partnership to enhance fan experiences and introduce unique activations during the tournament.

“We are thrilled to partner with Quail Hollow Club and the Wells Fargo Championship as we prepare to bring our new online sports betting brand, ESPN Bet, to North Carolina,” enthused Benjie Levy, Head of Penn Interactive.

“Along with market access, we’re excited to sponsor the popular Wells Fargo Championship and look forward to working together with our new partners to create unique fan activations.”

ESPN Bet officially launched on November 14 across 17 states, including Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

“We welcome the upcoming launch of regulated online sports wagering in North Carolina and are extremely pleased to partner with a leading gaming and entertainment operator in PENN Entertainment,” expressed Johnny Harris, President of Quail Hollow Club.

“PENN’s compelling online sports betting brand ESPN Bet, cutting-edge technology, and extensive operational expertise make them an ideal long-term partner for this industry.”

In a recent development, PENN Entertainment also announced a partnership with the NHL, designating ESPN Bet and theScore Bet brands as official sports betting partners for the top ice hockey league, further solidifying PENN’s presence in the rapidly evolving sports betting landscape.
