DAZN Launches in France with Exclusive Ligue 1 Matches on Canal+
The sports streaming giant, DAZN Group, has made its anticipated debut in France, marking its entry into one of the world’s largest media markets. The strategic move comes as part of a landmark agreement with France’s leading pay-TV operator, Canal+. This venture sees DAZN distributing Ligue 1 Uber Eats football matches exclusively via the Canal+ Ligue 1 channel.
With this expansion, DAZN continues its rapid European growth, making France its seventh key European market and its eleventh worldwide. The streaming platform is on a mission to extend its global footprint, aiming to build on its already impressive 60 million user base.
Football enthusiasts in France have much to celebrate. Subscribers will enjoy access to the top two Ligue 1 matches every week throughout the football season via Canal+ Ligue 1. What makes this deal even more appealing is that there’s no requirement for fans to subscribe to any other service. Furthermore, as the exclusive global partner of the NFL, DAZN offers its subscribers the option to include the NFL Game Pass in their packages, giving them unparalleled access to all NFL games, playoffs, and even the Super Bowl.
In terms of accessibility, DAZN will cater to a variety of devices. Whether on mobile, Smart TVs, or other digital platforms, fans can access their favorite sports content effortlessly. An integration of the DAZN app within Canal’s myCANAL service is also on the horizon, with more local distribution agreements to be announced in the future.
Adding to its extensive offerings, DAZN is introducing a dedicated channel – DAZN 1. Bundled with CANAL+, this channel aims to cater to over 1.2 million subscribers, featuring premier content like the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Belgian Juliper Pro League, and top-tier boxing and combat sports events. Canal+ will further amplify this partnership, launching a comprehensive marketing campaign to boost DAZN’s brand presence and its expansive product offerings.
Speaking on the launch, Shay Segev, DAZN Group’s CEO, expressed immense enthusiasm about entering the French market. He emphasized DAZN’s commitment to deliver top-tier content, especially the prized Ligue 1 matches. “We’ve had our eyes on the French market for a while, recognizing its vast potential. With our top-quality content and the launch of DAZN 1 as a result of our collaboration with Canal+, we’re eager to cultivate a lasting relationship with French sports aficionados. Our goal remains to craft the ultimate sports entertainment platform and fortify our distribution channels,” Segev remarked.
