DAZN Appoints Rebecca McCloy as Group Chief Commercial Officer

DAZN, the global sports entertainment platform, has appointed Rebecca McCloy as its new Group Chief Commercial Officer, effective November.

The appointment highlights a clear mandate for DAZN to intensify its focus on aggressive global rights acquisition and renewal, leveraging McCloy’s extensive experience in the highly competitive Australian media market.

McCloy transitions from Foxtel Group in Australia, where she spent 12 years leading commercial content acquisitions and partnerships.

During her tenure, she played a key role in consolidating Foxtel’s position as a dominant sports broadcaster, securing over 50 major domestic and international sports rights for its subscriber base. This track record provides DAZN with proven expertise in navigating complex rights negotiations and maximising subscriber value, a critical skill as the global platform continues to transition from a pure-play streaming service to a broader sports entertainment hub.

CEO of DAZN Group, Shay Segev, highlighted the value of this regional experience: “Her experience will be valuable as we continue growing DAZN as the global home of sports.”

By securing a leader with deep commercial knowledge forged in a complex market like Australia, DAZN is positioning itself to be more effective in securing and monetising key properties across diverse international territories.

The new structure sees Marc Watson, the former chief commercial officer, transition into a newly created role supporting CEO Shay Segev on strategic projects.

Watson, who joined DAZN as part of the Eleven Sports acquisition in 2023, has been instrumental in shaping the group’s rights strategy.

This internal reallocation of talent suggests DAZN is streamlining its commercial leadership to focus on long-term, high-level business strategy alongside the tactical rights acquisition drive led by McCloy.

The appointment signals DAZN’s commitment to both continuous rights investment and structural business innovation in the fluid sports streaming landscape.
