DAZN announces integration with Sky platform in the UK

DAZN, the global sports streaming service, has unveiled plans to integrate its app onto Sky’s platform in the UK starting next year. Commencing in 2024, Sky customers will gain access to DAZN’s offerings through platforms such as Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q.

This collaboration expands the sports content available to Sky customers, encompassing various disciplines like boxing, MMA, UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Saudi Pro League. DAZN’s impressive line-up includes coverage of prominent boxing matches, including those featuring British boxer Anthony Joshua, who inked a long-term broadcast deal with DAZN in 2022, concluding a nine-year partnership with Sky.

The DAZN app will provide the option to purchase the NFL Game Pass service, delivering live games from the premier American football league, along with magazine programming and archive content.

“This is excellent news for both DAZN and Sky customers. It makes it even easier to access the DAZN app in the UK and Ireland,” beamed Shay Segev, DAZN Group’s chief executive.

“DAZN’s distribution strategy is to be as accessible to as many sports fans as possible, and Sky’s technology will help us get into more homes across the UK and Ireland.”

DAZN has recently unveiled details of its upcoming free tier, offering selected live content without a subscription. This freemium service, launching in Germany this month and globally in early 2024, aims to attract new subscribers by providing a taste of its premium content.

Despite reporting an operating loss of $1.06 billion in 2022, an improvement from $1.35 billion in 2021, DAZN Group witnessed a robust 41 percent year-on-year revenue increase, reaching $2.19 billion in 2022. The company has also reportedly engaged in early discussions with potential advisors to secure up to $1 billion in capital, signalling its commitment to securing top-tier streaming rights.
