Dallas Cowboys secure first NFL casino partnership

The National Football League’s (NFL) Dallas Cowboys have become the first American football team to partner with a casino, following last weeks historic announcement.

The Cowboys have confirmed a partnership with Winstar World Casino and Resort ahead of their season opener this Sunday.

Last week, the NFL owners decided on a rule change that allowed franchisees to sell bookmaker-related sponsorship deals for the first time.

However, casinos are still not permitted to advertise their associated sportsbooks directly with NFL brands.

The announcement coincides with a new research report by Nielsen stating the NFL is set to make US$2.3 billion from the gambling industry, following the US Supreme Court’s lift on the ban of sports gambling back in May.

Many states in the US, such as Oklahoma – where Winstar is based – are expected to legalise sports betting in the near future.

The deal was announced by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who is thrilled with the new partnership.

“The Dallas Cowboys take great pride in aligning themselves with the best brands in the world.

“We are excited about the future of gaming as it relates to the NFL.”
