Crypto.com Arena officials have announced the multi-purpose stadium, which serves as the home to the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks, will receive a nine-figure investment for several renovation projects.

The renovations will include LED screens and ribbon boards, upgrades to the concourse levels and improvements to in-arena dining, as well as a ‘refresh’ of the locker rooms for the Lakers, Kings and Sparks.

Commenting on the renovations, Lakers president of business operations, Tim Harris, said: “For the past two decades, the Lakers and AEG have shared a vision of providing a premier experience to every guest who enters Crypto.com Arena and L.A. LIVE’s Xbox Plaza.”

“Competing nightly in front of the most passionate fans in the NBA inside one of the most iconic venues in the world is something our organization is incredibly proud of.

“This investment into expansive improvements and upgrades cements Los Angeles’ downtown arena as the pinnacle of entertainment for decades to come,” he said.

Additionally, notable changes to the stadium’s outdoor gathering area will eliminate the street between the arena and LA Live, and instead will see a public tree lined plaza and glass-walled club created.

All planned improvements are expected to be finished by 2024, with several being ready for the 2022/23 NBA and NHL seasons.

The news comes as the NBA partnered with Fanatics to launch its first brick-and-mortar stores in Australia.
