Nine’s Wide World of Sport (WWOS) will begin the build-up to this year’s State Of Origin with the launch of its ‘Stories of Origin’ documentary series on Friday, May 13th. 

The eight-part audio documentary series will dive into some of the greatest moments in footy history and feature exclusive access to the current Origin coaches, Queensland’s Billy Slater and New South Wales’ Brad Fittler. 

Amongst the Rugby League legends that will feature on the podcast to discuss their biggest Origin moments include; Andrew Johns, Wally Lewis, Cameron Smith, Phil Gould, Johnathan Thurston, Darren Lockyer, Paul Gallen, Greg Inglis, and Ricky Stuart.

Nine’s Wide World of Sports, head of partnerships and strategy, Simon Fordham, said: “In the build-up to this year’s State of Origin series we will give fans more access and insight than ever with the launch of this podcast.”

“The biggest names to have ever played Origin will share their stories, some of which have never been heard before. 

“Current coaches Brad Fittler and Billy Slater will record their episodes from deep in camp as they prepare their players for the biggest match of the year,” said Fordham

Fordham said that the series will support the live and exclusive coverage of the three Origin games on Channel Nine and 9Now, calling Channel Nine the “home of State of Origin.” 

Head of audio, Hayley Bourne, also commented: “This is a great addition to 9Podcasts and complements our total audio strategy.”

The ‘Stories of Origin’ audio series will be available on 9Podcasts, Spotify, Apple, and Google.

The last episode featuring Billy Slater will be released on June 6th, before the first Origin game kicks off on June 8th at Sydney’s Stadium Australia.
