Catapult To Deliver Strategy Platform To NASCAR Team

Sports technology company, Catapult, has announced a new partnership with NASCAR team, Roush Fenway Racing, with the team to use Catapult’s motorsport race strategy platform, RaceWatch.

The multi-year partnership will see Roush Fenway Racing utilise the technology used across Formula One, Formula E, and Le Mans, providing integrated video, audio, and data analysis in real-time for team performance analysis.

Catapult CEO, Will Lopes, said RaceWatch will empower the NASCAR team to better monitor changing conditions, predict trends, and modify racing strategies and tactics.

“We’re proud that Roush Fenway Racing is choosing Catapult to track, analyse, and ultimately optimise its performance during NASCAR races,” Lopes said.

“RaceWatch has delivered more than two million algorithmic predictions per race in Formula One, giving those teams the most comprehensive view of race strategy.

“It continues to be the most sophisticated tool on the market, and we’re excited that a team as innovative as Roush Fenway Racing is the first to apply it to the exciting NASCAR Cup Series,” he said.

Lopes recently spoke with Ministry of Sport about the launch of the company’s wearable performance product, Catapult One.

Roush Fenway Racing technical director, Kevin Kidd, said: “Every second counts in racing.”

“Using Catapult’s RaceWatch solution gives us an additional edge, offering every member of the team real-time insights into all the key performance data of the race.

“This means we can make decisions faster and with more accuracy than ever before, which gives us a critical advantage over competitors,” Kidd said.
