The official slogan for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, “Shine Brightest, Together,” has been unveiled, marking a significant milestone in the countdown to the Games, now just eight years away. This announcement in Brisbane on Tuesday emphasises the organisers’ commitment to making the Brisbane 2032 Olympics the “best Games ever.”
Patrick Johnson, Brisbane 2032 board director and former sprint star, highlighted the importance of learning from the upcoming Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympics to ensure Brisbane exceeds expectations. “At Paris and LA, we have real lessons to learn. We are going to deliver the best Games ever in Olympic history,” Johnson stated confidently.
Andrew Liveris, head of Brisbane 2032, is preparing to deliver a progress report to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Paris, as part of a broader fact-finding mission to gather insights from the upcoming Games. A similar mission is planned for Los Angeles 2028. “These missions are crucial to our preparation,” Johnson added. “We want to ensure Brisbane delivers an unforgettable experience in 2032.”
While the slogan has been confirmed, the task of creating a global brand for Brisbane 2032 is still underway. Brisbane board director Brett Clark mentioned that the brand design is “pretty much set” and is currently being tested in the market. To boost their profile, Brisbane organizers have launched billboards and established a café in Paris during the 2024 Games. Additionally, a social media campaign has been initiated, encouraging people to record the patriotic “Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!” chant and upload it with the hashtag #Brisbane2032.
Liveris believes this nationwide cheer will not only mark the eight-year countdown but also serve as a global invitation to the 2032 Games. “Now is the time to raise our voice as one and let everyone know that Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia are getting ready to host the world’s biggest sporting event in 2032,” he said.
Despite the excitement, significant work remains. The Queensland government faces criticism for opting to upgrade ageing facilities instead of following an independent review’s recommendations. This decision may be revisited, depending on the outcome of the upcoming state election, with the opposition promising a 100-day infrastructure review if victorious. Johnson remains optimistic, stating, “Cool heads will prevail. I know we will be part of something unique and special.”
As Brisbane 2032 organisers continue their preparations, the momentum is building, and the world watches in anticipation. The journey to hosting the “best Games ever” has officially begun, and Brisbane is ready to shine brightest, together.
