BBC Announces Five-Year Broadcast Deal With MLB

Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced a partnership with the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC), that will see the network provide coverage games played in the UK and North America.

The deal began with a game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees on 24 September and will see the BBC cover more regular-season games in the US in addition to games played in the UK.

As part of a deal struck in 2019, the BBC will broadcast the second match in MLB’s London Series between the Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardinals in 2023, with the match having not been played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the deal will include coverage of the 2024 and 2026 London Series games, which will be held at London Stadium.

Former New York Yankee’s pitcher CC Sabathia, broadcaster, Melanie Newman and podcast host, Felix White, made up the commentary team for the initial game of the deal that was streamed on BBC iPlayer.
