Bathurst International Announce Supercheap Auto As Naming Rights Partner

he newest event at the world-famous Mount Panorama, has confirmed Supercheap Auto as naming rights partner for the Bathurst International.

Extending their portfolio with the Australian Racing Group (ARG), the Australian-owned automotive retailer has agreed to a multi-year partnership beginning with the event’s inaugural running on November 26.

Supercheap Auto has a rich history with Bathurst’s famous Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit having spent 16 years as naming rights partner of the Bathurst 1000.

Supercheap Auto managing director, Benjamin Ward, said the company is excited to return to the mountain.

“The Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will be an exciting event for fans and our team with world-class racing categories and drivers,” Ward said.

“Supercheap Auto have a long history with Bathurst, and we look forward to working with the Australian Racing Group on showcasing this event globally,” he said.

ARG CEO, Matt Braid said the ARG are excited to extend the partnership with Supercheap Auto.

“The Supercheap Auto Bathurst International is set to be the premier event for ARG’s racing categories which are internationally aligned such as TCR, GT World Challenge and Trans Arm, or feature attributes of top-level world motorsport as s5000 does,” Braid said.

“An event of this calibre needs a passionate, committed partner that understands the sport, its fans and the privilege that we have to be putting on a show at Mount Panorama.

“Supercheap Auto is undoubtedly that partner, and we are extremely proud to be extending our association with the SCA team to naming rights of the Bathurst International,” he said.

According to a press release from the ARG, the event will be “a celebration of racing categories with an international and world-class flavour including open wheel race cars, touring cars and GT sports cars.”

The flagship of the event will be the first ever appearance of the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship at Mount Panorama.

The S5000 be the first time V8-powered formula have raced at the mountain since the Formula 5000 cars in 1970.

Touring Car Racing (TCR) Australia will also be headlining the event with the ARG announcing the TCR at Bathurst will “feature high-quality Australian drivers representing brands from Germany, France, Italy, Japan and South Korea.”

Bathurst Mayor, Bobby Bourke, said; “The Supercheap Auto Bathurst International is set to be the jewel in the Australian motorsport calendar and around the world.”

“Mount Panorama has a reputation as one of the best racing circuits in the world.

“The worldwide exposure of the Bathurst International will elevate Mount Panorama’s prestige and will showcase the racing circuit and Bathurst to a global audience,” he said.

The event will be broadcast in Australia on Channel 7 and on demand on 7Plus, with tickets for general and grandstand admission as well as camping on Mount Panorama are on sale now.
