Basketball Australia and She Hoops Launch Mini-Documentary Highlighting 2006 Opals

Basketball Australia and its dedicated female-focused engagement initiative, She Hoops, have partnered with production entity WldCntry to release One of One, an exclusive mini-documentary chronicling the historic gold medal campaign of the 2006 Australian Opals at the FIBA World Championship.

Supported financially by the Australian Government via the Play Our Way grant program alongside official commercial partnership backing from watchmaker TISSOT, the digital release premiered on YouTube.

The content initiative is designed to celebrate a watershed moment in women’s basketball in Australia while bolstering commercial engagement, fan retention, and legacy recognition across the sport’s evolving domestic ecosystem.

The high-profile production features reflective commentary from a powerhouse roster of national basketball icons, including Lauren Jackson, Penny Taylor, Belinda Snell, Kristi Harrower, Tully Bevilaqua, and head coach Jan Stirling, detailing the relentless commitment and cultural impact underpinning their unprecedented international success.

Reflecting on the historic milestone, basketball icon, Penny Taylor shared vital perspective within the documentary.
