Baseball Australia Announces Advisory Group For Proposed Women’s League

Baseball Australia has announced the inaugural members of the Women’s Advisory Group who will be in charge of building the structure and direction of the proposed Women’s Australian Baseball League (WABL).

The six members of the Women’s Advisory Group consist of women from sport, education, business and baseball, including Australian Emeralds veterans Tahnee Lovering and Erin Fox.

The group will work through a number of key strategic objectives, including the league’s business model, rules & regulations, roster composition, commercial strategy and how the league can benefit the growth of women’s baseball.

Baseball Australia chief executive officer, Cam Vale, said this group of highly skilled people would give the WABL a solid platform to build from.

“This is an outstanding group of professionals giving up their time to invest in a strategy for a successful Women’s ABL,” Vale said.

“We are confident this group will put together a creative and sustainable framework for the league.”

Baseball Australia will be working with key international partners, including the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) as well as current ABL licence holders to ensure the WABL is visible and accessible to women across the world.

The group will begin their development of the WABL in early 2019, with a proposed model to be finalised at the 2019 Australian Women’s Championship.
