Baltimore Orioles Announce Fanatics Retail Partnership

Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, the Baltimore Orioles, have announced a ten-year partnership with the merchandise provider, Fanatics, making them team’s official retail partner.

Beginning next year, the deal gives Fanatics operational control of all the Orioles’ merchandise stores, including the on-site store at the team’s stadium, Oriole Park.

The deal also builds on Fanatics’ relationship with the MLB, where the retailer controls the Orioles’ along with the rest of the league’s e-commerce destinations.

Additionally, the announcement coincides with the opening of Fanatics’ new distribution centre in Aberdeen, just 55km from Baltimore, which allows for quicker inventory restocking and swifter delivery of online orders.

Commenting on the deal, Fanatics SVP of business development and strategy, Ed O’Brien, said: “Throughout this partnership we look forward to delivering a best-in-class in-venue retail experience … and providing the passionate Orioles fan base with timely, high-quality merchandise for all members of the family.”

Orioles’ senior vice president, TJ Brighton, added: “There is nothing more important to us than the fan experience, and we truly believe this long-term partnership will only enhance that.”

The deal means the Orioles are the fifth MLB team to partner Fanatics for in-venue retail, and are the next organisation added to Fanatics’ large partnership portfolio, which includes the NBA, NFL, MLS and NHL.
