n an attempt to flex its growing arm in the sports streaming world, Amazon Prime Video have announced a deal to show Spanish top-flight football’s, LaLigaTV on its UK channel until the end of the 2021-22 season.

Every match in the remainder of the Spanish football season will be streamed, along with more than 25 hours of studio programming, with live and on-demand exclusive interviews also included.

Fixtures played at the same time will be shown subsequently in a replay format.

For access to the channel there will be a £6.99 (AUD$12.47) additional fee per month.

It is understood subscription revenues derived from an agreement between LaLiga and UK subscription broadcaster, Premier Sports, will be split between LaLiga, Amazon, and Premier Sports evenly.

Locally, Amazon Prime Video recently expanded into the sporting market in Australia with a partnership with Swimming Australia, attempting to match the market popularity of other streaming agents such as Kayo and Optus Sport.

The first match to be shown via Amazon Prime Video in the UK will be Granada vs Athlético Madrid on Saturday, February 13.

Amazon began their football market journey during the 2019-22 cycle, where they held English Premier League rights, and currently own a range of ATP tennis properties for the 2019-23 cycle.
