THE AFL has confirmed Chemist Warehouse as the new official partner for the AFL umpires from round eight through to the end of 2019.
Chemist Warehouse is Australia’s largest discount chemist with over 330 stores across the nation with their logo featuring on all AFL umpires’ uniforms starting with Sunday’s match between North Melbourne and Richmond at Etihad Stadium.
AFL general manager of commercial Kylie Rogers welcomed the new partnership.
“Chemist Warehouse has gained an enormous amount of traction in the sports space over the past few years, including being an inaugural partner for the AFL Women’s Competition and an ongoing partner of the AFL Men’s Competition,” Ms Rogers said.
“We are delighted to strengthen this relationship further by bringing Chemist Warehouse on as an official partner of the AFL umpires.”
Chemist Warehouse chief operating officer Mario Tascone says he is thrilled to get behind and support the AFL Umpires.
“I am absolutely thrilled Chemist Warehouse has been offered the opportunity to support the AFL umpires,” he said.
“We always talk about the AFL players, but rarely speak about the umpires and the challenges they face, so to be able to get behind and show some support to the game’s incredible umpires means a lot to us at Chemist Warehouse because, without them, we wouldn’t have the game.”
The AFL has also confirmed Special K has extended its sponsorship of the NAB AFL Women’s Competition until the end of the 2019 season.
Kellogg’s marketing director, Tamara Howe, said she was thrilled with the continued alignment of Special K with AFLW.
“AFLW represents everything Special K believes in. We want to be able to inspire young girls and women in their everyday life,” Howe said.
“The inaugural AFLW season was incredible and the second only built on its success. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the AFLW and keep this momentum going.
