Adidas sold 1 million shoes made out of ocean plastic in 2017

ADIDAS joined Parley for the Oceans back in 2015 to promote awareness for the protection and preservation of our oceans.

An estimated eight million metric tons of plastic waste makes its way into the ocean each year and Adidas plans on using it to make a sustainable product line.

What started as a single pair of Adidas x Parley shoes has grown to now offer shirts, hoodies, leggings, and all kinds of other apparel made from ocean plastic fiber.

Adidas sell 450 million shoes on an annual basis and want all of their products to be created from plastic that would otherwise have been put into the ocean within the next 6 years.

11 plastic bottles are repurposed to create the laces, heel linings, and sock liner covers of the shoes.
