Adelaide 36ers and Master Builders SA Renew Partnership for “Born to Build” Tradie Round

The Adelaide 36ers and Master Builders South Australia (SA) have renewed their partnership for the “Born to Build” Tradie Round, set to take place during Thursday night’s game against the Southeast Melbourne Phoenix on October 16 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

The event, presented by Master Builders SA, celebrates the organisation’s successful career pathway programs for apprentices and highlights the importance of skilled trades in South Australia’s growing construction sector.

Following its debut last season, the Tradie Round returns after a resounding success, drawing attention to the similarities between teamwork in sports and collaboration on the worksite from physical fitness to discipline and skill mastery.

The initiative is proudly supported by Sterling Homes and SGP Civil, two key partners helping to promote apprenticeships and career opportunities in the construction industry.

Building Futures Through Basketball

Master Builders SA, the state’s largest industry association, provides training, mentorship, and career opportunities for hundreds of apprentices to help address South Australia’s critical skills shortage in construction.

Praising the renewed partnership for creating meaningful community impact, Adelaide 36ers CEO, Nic Barbato, said: “Last year we saw how important this round could be in terms of connecting young basketball fans with pathways to meaningful and secure work in a huge growth industry.”

“There are a lot of similarities between sport and the building and construction industries. As well as the need to be physically and mentally fit like basketballers, trade workers need practice to perfect their craft — and they can do that through an MBA apprenticeship,” Barbato said.

He added that the 36ers take pride in supporting initiatives that promote future-ready careers for South Australians.

Born to Build – Inspiring the Next Generation

Echoing Barbato’s sentiments, Master builders SA CEO, Will Frogley, and emphasising the ongoing collaboration’s value in promoting the trades as rewarding and essential career choices:

“Like the Sixers, our organisation wants the best for our members, so we provide ongoing training and mentorship because we want them to succeed.”

“The building and construction industry is booming, but we need thousands more tradies to meet demand. Whether you’re fresh out of school or considering switching careers, Master Builders is hiring now.

“Just like a great basketball game starts with practice, every great career in a trade starts with an apprenticeship. A trade apprenticeship is your chance to rise above the rest and score big,” Frogley said.
