Adam Silver Shortlisted To Replace Bob Iger

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is reportedly on the shortlist of potential candidates to replace Bob Iger as the CEO of Disney when he retires in two years.

According to two sources familiar with the matter, Silver’s background in sports and entertainment has made him a top contender for the position.

Aside from his current role as Commissioner of the NBA, Silver has also spent eight years as the president and COO of NBA Entertainment,

Additionally, his work as th head of the NBA has involved working closely with ESPN, Disney’s flagship cable sports network.

This experience may have played a significant role in his inclusion in the shortlist of potential CEO candidates.

The search for Iger’s successor is currently underway, with a list of potential candidates that includes Disney’s entertainment co-chair Dana Walden and former Disney executive and current CEO of TikTok, Kevin Mayer. A spokesperson for Disney declined to comment on the shortlist, as did Walden’s representative and the NBA.

it would not be the first time that a top executive from the sports industry has moved to the entertainment sector.

For instance, former ESPN president George Bodenheimer served as the executive chairman of ESPN and ABC Sports from 2012 to 2014, while former NBA executive Peter Guber currently serves as the CEO of Mandalay Entertainment.
