Tabcorp Appoints David Grossman as General Manager of Strategy

Tabcorp has appointed experienced sports executive, David Grossman, as its new General Manager of Strategy.

Grossman confirmed the move on 2 February 2026, marking a high-performance hire for the organisation as it accelerates its transformation under the leadership of CEO Gillon McLachlan.

The reason behind the appointment lies in Grossman’s deep institutional knowledge of the Australian sporting landscape and his history of collaboration with McLachlan.

Having spent 15 years at the AFL, most recently as general manager of Clubs and Scheduling, Grossman brings unparalleled expertise in managing complex commercial ecosystems and media rights frameworks.

His transition to Tabcorp is designed to sharpen the company’s “omnichannel” strategy, focusing on integrating wagering, broadcast, and digital entertainment to recapture market share in a highly competitive sector.

Commenting on his appointment, Grossman shared via LinkedIn, said: “This next challenge is going to be exciting as I get to work (once again) under the leadership of Gillon McLachlan and Rob Fraser at Tabcorp where we are taking entertainment to the world!”

“I am very grateful for my time at the AFL… and I look forward to watching the team continue to take Australia’s game to a new level,” Grossman announced.

Strategic Rejuvenation and “AFL Factor”

Grossman’s arrival happens with a broader leadership overhaul at Tabcorp, frequently referred to in the industry as the “AFL-isation” of the wagering giant.

Grossman rejoins his former AFL boss, Gillon McLachlan (who took the CEO helm in August 2024), and Rob Fraser, Chief Technology and Transformation Officer, creating a powerhouse leadership triumvirate.

As part of the move, Grossman has formalised his resignation as a nominee director of Champion Data, the AFL’s official statistics partner, ensuring a clear focus on Tabcorp’s strategic pillars.

Grossman is expected to oversee the execution of Tabcorp’s 2026 strategic roadmap, which includes the rollout of a nationwide tote offering and enhanced retail integration within the pub and club network.
