Genius Sports, the official technology and innovation partner of FIBA, has announced a new partnership with the Croatian Basketball Federation (CBF) to introduce advanced data and AI-driven technologies across Croatian basketball competitions.
The agreement marks the latest step in Genius Sports’ wider strategy to equip national federations with tools that integrate performance analytics, fan engagement, and broadcast innovation.
CBF secretary general, Josip Jerko Vranković, said the deal represents a step forward for Croatian basketball, adding that the partnership aims to enhance both game streaming and fan engagement while deepening the use of data analytics.
Head of sports and broadcast at Genius Sports, Jonny Katanchian, described GeniusIQ as a completely unique proposition in world basketball, noting that it combines tracking data and live video to enhance everything from on-court performance levels to the experience fans are provided with worldwide.
Head of equipment and venue centre at FIBA, Bart Prinssen, concluded that the collaboration perfectly illustrates FIBA’s vision of transforming global basketball through technology.
Partnership Overview
At the core of the deal is GeniusIQ, the company’s AI-powered data platform designed to capture and analyse player and ball movement using automated tracking cameras installed in arenas.
Through GeniusIQ, coaches and analysts gain access to real-time data covering player speed, spacing, defensive rotations, and other key metrics. The platform integrates video and statistical overlays, offering teams a detailed understanding of on-court dynamics.
For leagues, the system also supports commercial and media applications, including enhanced live streaming and augmented broadcasts featuring player identifiers, shot metrics, and predictive insights.
Importantly, the partnership enables live streaming of Croatia’s top-tier basketball games for the first time, expanding the sport’s visibility to a global audience.
