Scott Sattler Returns to Gold Coast Titans as Director of Football

Former premiership-winning NRL player Scott Sattler has returned to the Gold Coast Titans as the club’s new director of football, a move in the organisation’s renewed football structure.

For Sattler, who grew up on the Gold Coast and played junior football at Runaway Bay, the appointment represents both a professional challenge and a personal homecoming.

Speaking on his first day at Parkwood, Sattler said the role carried “a lot of potential” to bring together the club’s players, staff and supporters.

“It’s a big job, but it’s an exciting one, there’s a lot of potential here in the players, the people and the community and I’m looking forward to helping bring that all together,” Sattler said.

Sattler was part of the Titans’ original football department when the club joined the NRL in 2007. His return follows a series of structural changes designed to realign the club’s football operations, pathways and recruitment.

“This club represents such a passionate community, and my goal is to make sure that connection is stronger than ever so that when people see the Titans logo, they feel like it’s theirs,” he added.

Sattler’s appointment complements a refreshed leadership group that includes incoming head coach Josh Hannay and head of recruitment and pathways Anthony Laffranchi. The trio will work closely to deliver a football program focused on accountability, player development and long-term stability.

Before moving into management, Sattler played 203 NRL games across stints with the Gold Coast Seagulls, Eastern Suburbs, South Queensland Crushers, Penrith Panthers, and Wests Tigers. He is best remembered for his famous 2003 grand final tackle that helped secure Penrith’s premiership.

Those same qualities of resilience, discipline and teamwork are traits he now seeks to instil in the Titans’ football culture.

“I’ve always believed in doing the little things right, effort, discipline, pride in the jersey. That’s the standard we want to help set here,” Sattler noted.

With his focus on strengthening internal alignment and reconnecting the club with its community, Sattler’s arrival signals a new era for the Titans’ football operations.

“We’ve got the right people in place and a clear vision for where we want to go.”

“Now it’s about hard work, connection and creating an environment where players love being part of the Gold Coast Titans,” he concluded.
