The Sydney Kings continue to secure big name signings ahead of the 2019/20 season, announcing Will Weaver as the new head coach of the NBL club.

Currently the Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets affiliate, the Long Island Nets who compete in the NBA G League, Weaver is also currently an Assistant Coach of the Australian Boomers.

Having already signed former Memphis Grizzlies director, Chris Pongas, as Chief Executive Officer and the announcement earlier in the week that TSE has assumed full ownership of the Sydney Kings, the club is wasting no time in securing quality talent to ensure a successful future for the club.

In announcing the appointment, Sydney Kings Chairman Paul Smith said: “We are proud to have Will join us at such an important time for the Sydney Kings.

“He is a cutting-edge coach with a focus on player development, perfect for the forward-looking organisation we are currently building.”

Smith went on to thank the Brooklyn Nets and General Manager Sean Marks for their support in allowing the Sydney Kings to engage in discussions with Weaver.

Weaver is currently committed and set to embark on a G League playoffs push with the Long Island Nets, which he will complete before moving to Australia with his family.
