In a major announcement for golf fans across Australia, Seven Network has secured the broadcasting rights for LIV Golf.

The announcement was made by 7Sport on Sunday via social media and will provide golf fans in Australia with the ability to watch every round of the 14-event season via Seven Network’s on-demand 7plus streaming platform.

This marks a significant step forward for LIV Golf in its efforts to expand its reach and grow its fanbase around the world.

The deal between LIV Golf and Seven Network was struck at the eleventh hour after months of negotiations between the tour and various other broadcasters around the world.

Additionally, under the terms of the deal, LIV Golf Adelaide, the country’s inaugural 54-hole event, will be aired on Seven Network’s various linear channels, Channel 7 and 7mate, which is a major win for Seven Network, as the event is expected to attract a lot of attention from golf fans across the country.

Commenting on the partnership, Performance54 managing director – responsible for the management and promotion of LIV Golf Adelaide, Nick Haslam, said: ““It’s awesome to be with one of the top broadcasters in this country and to be aligned with seven is great for us.”

“What LIV continues to say is that they’re adding to the ecosystem of golf, globally and in Australia, and the fact that there’s a top broadcaster where people can access it for free is excellent.

“It’s going to give brands the opportunity to align with the broader audience.

“I’ve spoken to the younger demographic who’re involved in LIV Golf, and having one of the largest broadcasters in this country and probably as good as any other network in terms of sport coverage will really add to this event with the opportunities and access it can provide the public.

“The other important thing is that the Adelaide event is going to be played on linear platforms. So, it will be on Seven or 7mate as opposed to 7plus who will be the provider for all 14 events,” he said.

Over the weekend, LIV also announced a new streaming platform, LIV Golf Plus, which will be available in 180 territories who don’t have a broadcast partnership with the new league.
