American Express will remain the official card of The National Basketball Association, as they renew their long-term partnership ahead of the 2021-22 season.
In a multi-year extension, The financial services giant, American Express, will remain the official card of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association, and NBA G League.Â
Besides a lapse in their partnership between 2005-10, American Express has worked with the NBA since 1995 and is the official NBA card of five individual NBA teams: Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami.Â
The deal will see a new integration with the NBA 2K video game, a series of basketball sports simulation video games developed and released annually since 1999, with the premise of each game in the series to emulate the sport of basketball.
Fans and card members of American Express will be able to purchase the upcoming NBA2K 22 on the 2K store and receive a code for virtual, in-game currency.Â
The American Express Jersey Assurance program will continue to be available, which allows card members to replace or trade their NBA and WNBA Jersey’s up to one year after their original purchase if the players change teams through trade or free agency, or change their uniform numbers.Â
American Express also plans to create exclusive merchandise and gear collaborations with the NBA.Â
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
