Tiger Woods Signs 2K Gaming Deal After Lengthy Absence

Former 15-time major champion, Tiger Woods, is making his return to the video gaming world after a long absence, signing an exclusive, long-term partnership with game developer, 2K.

The deal will include Woods’ name, image and likeness rights, whilst the 45-year-old will take up the role of executive director and consultant for future games under the PGA Tour 2K franchise.

2K president, David Ismailer, said partnering with a legend of the sport is a no-brainer for the industry.

“In golf, there is no bigger icon than Tiger Woods,” Ismailer said.

“Like the rest of the world, we were saddened to hear of his recent accident, and we wish him a smooth recovery.

“We have been eager to announce our partnership with Tiger, whose legendary career has transcended the sport.

“We are thrilled to have him join our PGA Tour 2K series as an executive director,” he said.

Woods has not lent his name to a video game since his partnership with EA Sports ended in 2013.

In a statement, Woods said the time was right to venture back into the gaming world.

“I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen,” Woods said.

“I’m honoured to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together,” he said.

There has been no official date released for the first game featuring Woods.
