Just weeks after the National Football League (NFL) eased its restrictions on blockchain partnerships, Socios.com has partnered with 13 NFL teams.

Socios’ is a fan token platform operating across 25 countries with over 125 partners, including the Champions league and UFC.

In a similar fashion to Socio’s partnerships with European football teams, the deal will see the brand sell blockchain tokens to fans in return for exclusive member benefits and rewards via its bespoke platform.

Socios’s partnership with the NFL teams highlights the brand’s rapid uptake in the U.S market after it recently signed with 12 National Hockey League (NHL) teams, agreed to a major partnership with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, and formed smaller deals with 28 NBA teams last year.

After several years of operation in the European market, in March 2021 Socios’ chief executive officer, Alexandre Dreyfus, pledged to invest USD $50 million (AUD $60.02 million) towards entering U.S sports market.

Socios’ chief strategy officer, Max Rabinovitch, said the company’s U.S roll-out has been a long process of educating the U.S market on blockchain technology and informing partners on the technology’s benefits.

With regards to attaining the NFL sponsorships, Rabinovitch said the NFL required education on what Socios planned to do and why blockchain is safe and sustainable.

Looking to the future, Rabinovitch said he is hoping their current U.S partnerships will catalyse a mass uptake.

“We have all these amazing partnerships, and the promise and the plan is we’re going to leverage all of these to educate mainstream U.S sports fans and North America sports fans on what we do, so that’s what we have to do now,” Rabinovitch said.

Superbowl champions, Las Angeles Rams, are among the teams signing with the platform.

The remaining teams partnering with Socios are as follows:

  • Chicago Bears
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New York Giants
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Washington Commanders
