WNBL Team Look To Crowd Funding To Save The Club From Folding

The WNBL’s Adelaide Lightning have been momentarily saved by an investment from Titanium Security Arena’s Chairman, Bruce Spangler, but it’s not enough to save the financially troubled club from folding.

A new crowdfunding campaign has just been launched in an effort to give the club a future, with the South Australian community asked to donate a brick or get their name on the player’s singlet.

“We really want to be a team that represents all aspects of the South Australian Community,” Lighting General Manager, Mandy Spear said.

“It is important that support comes outside traditional avenues of support like women in business, business owners, all cultural backgrounds, and anyone who is proudly South Australian.”

To help save the team, people can “donate a brick” to get their name on the inclusion wall that goes in the player’s tunnel where they run onto the court – with bricks only $25 each.

The second choice is to get their name or business name on the Adelaide Lightning singlet design, which players will wear with pride every home game.

There are 1,000 spots available, Adelaide Lightning only have a matter of months to secure the names to remain viable.
