In a strategic move to drive diversity in motorsport and STEM industries, Supercars and Griffith University have launched SuperGEMS, a pioneering program to foster career opportunities for young women in the sector. The initiative aligns with broader industry efforts to expand talent pipelines and build a more inclusive workforce within motorsport.
SuperGEMS is structured to connect Year 9 and 10 female students with motorsport professionals, offering hands-on learning experiences and mentorship. Officially launched at Griffith University, the event featured PremiAir Racing engineer Romy Mayer, rising female driver Summer Rintoule, and motorsport veterans Craig Lowndes and Bryce Fullwood.
Supercars COO Tim Watsford emphasized the program’s role in developing future industry talent:
