The Newcastle Rugby Foundation is set to conclude its series of Beach Festivals along the region’s coastline this summer, with the final event scheduled for Seaburn on Wednesday, 20 August. Following successful festivals at Bamburgh and South Shields.
This initiative highlights the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to fostering grassroots rugby participation and strengthening community ties, particularly in alignment with the forthcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.
The Seaburn Beach Festival will take place on the sandy stretch opposite the promenade from 2pm, offering two main, free-of-charge sessions for public participation.
An “Open Girls Rugby Session” from 4pm to 5:30pm invites girls aged 11 to 18 to engage in a relaxed rugby experience, with no prior experience required.
This session is designed to encourage new participation and provide a supportive entry point into the sport for young females.
Following this, a “Beach Touch Rugby Festival” from 5:30pm to 8pm will cater to a mixed-ability, age, and gender audience.
This inclusive format prioritises fun, community bonding, and active participation, aiming to appeal to a broad demographic.
The festival will also include an after-party at STACK Seaburn, offering food and beverages with views of the beach, extending the event’s social and commercial footprint.
This event presents a chance to experience rugby in a friendly setting, connect with new faces, and relish a summer evening by the sea. It also aligns with the Newcastle Rugby Foundation’s commitment as Community Engagement Program Partners for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.
