Southern Cross Austereo Western Australia (SCA WA) has announced a landmark three-year media partnership with the Perth Bears, Western Australia’s newest NRL franchise.

Commencing January 1, 2026, the agreement strategically positions SCA as the official media partner responsible for driving the team’s launch, growth, and brand presence across the state through dedicated airtime and promotional support.

This is a high-value commercial coup for the Bears’ expansion organisation, leveraging SCA’s unparalleled reach across WA via Mix94.5, 92.9 Triple M, 34 regional stations, and LiSTNR.

The media support is designed to build fan engagement immediately and will be crucial in driving ticket sales and memberships as the team enters its second and third NRL seasons.

Confirming the alignment, SCA general manager WA, Remi Barley, said: “This collaboration marks an an exciting chapter for rugby league in Western Australia, and we’re proud to play a role in bringing the passion, energy, and stories of the Bears to fans across the state.”

The partnership is built on a strong brand synergy between two organisations committed to serving the Western Australian community.

For the Perth Bears, securing this extensive media footprint is vital for establishing a powerful new sporting identity and fulfilling their mission to grow the game from the grassroots up.

Bears CEO, Anthony De Ceglie, stated that the partnership will “play an integral part of this vision,” enabling the club to connect with communities statewide to grow local talent and provide a professional career pathway.

The activation strategy includes providing SCA WA listeners with exclusive access to behind-the-scenes experiences, team merchandise, and game day activations.

This approach ensures the partnership translates into tangible consumer engagement and strengthens the emotional connection between the highly recognisable media outlets and the new elite sporting team.

Head coach, Mal Meninga, also highlighted the importance of the partnership in amplifying the club’s grassroots program and ensuring WA rugby league becomes a “genuine force on the national stage.”
