Red Bull Racing and Ferrari extend key F1 partnerships

Red Bull Racing, the dominant Formula 1 motor racing team, has announced the renewal of its partnership with leading US software company ANSYS in a fresh multi-year agreement.

The announcement comes shortly after F1 rival Ferrari also extended its collaboration with auto-electronics manufacturer Harman Automotive.

ANSYS’s extended deal is set to span through the 2024 F1 season – which kicked off on March 2 courtesy of a one-two finish for Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Pérez at the Bahrain Grand Prix – with plans to continue beyond that timeframe.

ANSYS has been a longstanding partner of Red Bull Racing since 2005, initially providing performance computer software with a specialised focus on the team’s aerodynamics.

“To stay ahead of the curve, we need tools that adapt to changing regulations,” said Craig Skinner, Chief Designer at Red Bull Racing.

“Ansys is flexible and keeps pace with industry needs, and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership.”

Skinner also credited ANSYS for contributing to the success of the team’s 2023 car, which achieved remarkable results with 21 victories out of 23 races – and has made the perfect start to replicating that record in 2024.

“Ansys simulation software helped Oracle Red Bull Racing quickly adapt to the new F1 design guidelines last year and positioned us to maintain our technical leadership in a dramatically altered engineering landscape,” Skinner added.

Harman Automotive partnered with Ferrari ahead of the 2023 F1 season and will continue to do so through 2024.

As part of the renewed partnership, Ferrari’s racing division will collaborate with Harman on a co-branded marketing campaign. Additionally, the Ferrari livery will prominently feature Harman branding on the raised area surrounding the cockpit.

The partnership between Harman and Ferrari will expand to encompass Ferrari’s upcoming generation of retail road vehicles, which will incorporate in-cabin safety software provided by Harman.

“After a successful inaugural year, we look forward to continuing our Scuderia Ferrari partnership with an exciting new campaign for the 2024 race season,” enthused Christian Sobottka, President of Harman Automotive.

“On the road, we will extend our technical partnership with Ferrari by delivering a number of key Ready Care safety features for its customers.”
