Queensland Cricket has announced Terry Svenson as acting CEO following a meeting of the Board last night.

Current QC Director, Terry Svenson, has stepped down from his Director role on the Board to move into the role as Acting Chief Executive Officer following the resignation of Max Walters from the position last week.

Mr. Svenson’s move to Acting CEO means one of the three appointed board positions will be filled by recommendation from the Nominations Committee.

Mr. Svenson comes to the CEO role with extensive strategy, consumer marketing and leadership experience across business and sport, having most-recently held the position of Chief Executive Officer at a multi-national food and beverage company.

He is a currently a Non-Executive Director of the Brisbane Racing Club, has served on the Brisbane Heat Committee since 2015, is a former President of Toombul Junior Cricket and stood on the QC Board from 2017 – 2019.

QC Chairman Judge Vasta said Mr. Svenson’s leadership and business strategy credentials made him the ideal candidate to hold the Acting Chief Executive Officer position.

“We welcome Terry to the role of Acting CEO while the recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive takes place.

“Terry has been a valued member of Queensland Cricket’s Board since 2017 and is greatly respected and admired in business and cricket circles.

“He has a close association with community cricket from his time at Toombul, and he will no doubt bring great leadership and stability to QC.

“While we congratulate and welcome Terry, it is important we also acknowledge and once again thank our outgoing CEO Max Walters on the great job he did as QC’s leader.”

The search to fill the substantive CEO position has commenced.
