Prime Video has released its 2026 sports content with the official trailer release for Final Siren: Inside the AFL, an original four-part docuseries set for a global premiere on 27 February 2026.
Produced by the Emmy Award-winning Box To Box Films, the team behind the global phenomenon Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the series provides an intimate, character-driven look at the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The strategy behind the production is the AFL’s aggressive move to export Australian Rules Football to international markets. By partnering with Prime Video, the league gains access to a distribution network spanning 240 countries and territories, using the “Box To Box” storytelling formula to frame the AFL’s high-stakes drama for non-traditional audiences.
For Prime Video, the series serves as a critical local tentpole to retain its Australian subscriber base ahead of the 2026 season opener on 5 March.
Commenting on the trailer release, AFL executive general manager, Bec Haagsma, said: “Final Siren: Inside the AFL is an important asset as the AFL continues to grow its reach, connecting more people with our game both here in Australia and internationally.”
“The docuseries presents a wonderful opportunity to connect new and long-time fans through incredible access to some of our game’s biggest stars,” Haagsma said.
The series follows seven of the league’s most recognisable figures, capturing the personal cost of elite competition.
The “Back-to-Back” Journey: Fans are given behind-the-scenes access to the Brisbane Lions’ Dayne Zorko and Cam Rayner during their successful 2025 premiership defence.
Iconic Farewells: The series documents the final chapter of Fremantle legend Nat Fyfe’s 16-year career.
The Leadership Lens: Coverage includes Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs), Max Gawn (Melbourne), Toby Greene (GWS Giants), and Touk Miller (Gold Coast Suns).
Final Siren: Inside the AFL represents the fourth major collaboration between the organisation and the AFL since 2019, joining Making Their Mark and Warriors On The Field.
The documentary release is timed to alongside Prime Video’s live sports expansion, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and exclusive NBA match-ups.
The series is executive produced by Paul Martin, James Gay-Rees, and Hillary Olsen, with Dan Colless serving as showrunner.
The organisation views the $9.99/month Prime membership as a “Total Sports” offering, blending high-end documentary storytelling with live global events to compete with domestic rivals Kayo and Stan Sport.
